I got misty eyed

My new Strauch Drum Carder came last week. I actually got a little choked up.

I had to try it out right away.
Oh my goodness, this was like cotton with one pass through! I love my sheep! I love love love my sheep!

Oh, I am SO jealous of all the canned food. Reminds me of when I was growing up. We lived off canned and frozen foods all winter and then some. I have always been afraid to can though. Must be that visual I have 'burned' into my brain of when the canner exploded on to my Dad while he was not wearing a shirt... It's hard to let go of some of the childhood trauma.... What do you do with the lasagna? Freeze it? I didn't think you could freeze it for that long. ?

I know what you mean about the pressure canning. I have not done that yet. All of my stuff just went in boiling water. I am a little scared my canner is too cheap.

I make about 5-8 meals of lasagna and that lasts 5 months. Then I start using my spaghetti sauce and I make more pans. My freezer also goes below 0, so things last longer. My chili goes in food saver bags and lasts the whole year.

We have so much food here. We could live for a year only buying flour, milk, and butter. We bought a stear (the guy made fun of us when we called it a cow), we have 2 hogs, and we are butchering a lamb, and if Michael gets a deer this year we will have that too. Then there are the turkies and chickens... We save $$$ that way, but I think we pay it back in our electrical bill keeping 2 freezers and 2 refrigerators going.
